We are delighted to announce that the Dalkia brand in Ireland has today (25 July 2014) officially become Veolia.
Dalkia has always been the energy services activity of Veolia and for brand clarity purposes this change had been considered for a number of years. We are glad that it is finally becoming a reality and are looking forward to an exciting future as a fully integrated group.
We remain committed to delivering high quality energy and utility services to our customers complemented by our experience and expertise in supplying water and waste treatment services to industries and municipalities. One Veolia group brings significant benefits in terms of a comprehensive environmental offering to our clients.
"Resourcing the world": addressing a major challenge
Natural resources are growing scarce and we need to meet the growing needs of an increasingly densely populated and urbanised planet that is also facing the effects of climate change. As one of the world's leading specialists in energy, water and waste management, Veolia sees this major challenge as an opportunity. We believe that the time is right to invent a new more efficient, more balanced social and economic model that moves away from the linear model of extracting resources to produce goods which are then disposed of, to a model where products are remade, resold or recycled. These are the principles of a circular economy.
Veolia is the global leader in optimised resource management. With over 200,000 employees* worldwide, the company designs and provides water, waste and energy management solutions which contribute to the sustainable development of communities and industries. Through its three complementary business activities, Veolia helps to develop access to resources, protect and conserve available resources, and to replenish them. In 2013, Veolia supplied 94 million people with drinking water and 62 million people with wastewater service, produced 86 million megawatt hours of energy and converted 38 million metric tons of waste into new materials and energy.
Veolia (Paris Euronext: VIE and NYSE: VE) recorded revenue of €22.3 billion* in 2013.
(*) Excluding Transdev employees and revenue currently under divestment.
