Veolia is committed to helping our customers to improve their environmental performance but we are also committed to helping the communities we work and live in. Our volunteering programme is a big part of that and in September this year groups of Veolia employees volunteered their time to improve community gardens around Ireland.
Kilkenny
The Veolia team in Kilkenny got to work at the Upper Paddock Biodiversity Garden in Thomastown. Their efforts went towards maintaining the gardens and making them more accessible to the local community.
This garden serves as a habitat for a variety of wildflowers, which attract birds and bees, promoting pollination and sustainability. It's a great place for people of all ages to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Blanchardstown
Volunteers from our Blanchardstown office spent an afternoon at the GLAS TU Dublin Community Garden to help maintain the gardens and make them more accessible to the local community.
During that afternoon the Veolia volunteers assisted with weeding, mowing, creating raised beds and rearranging the community garden.
Making sure that we have sustainable local communities is an important part of what we do and it’s great to see so many people using their volunteering hours so productively.
Supporting local communities
Veolia in Ireland operates a community sponsorship programme called Veolia Connect where staff can obtain funding for projects which they are personally involved with.
