Veolia employees celebrating being shortlisted in the Kilkenny Business Awards

Shortlisting in the Employer of the Year category at the Kilkenny Business Awards recognises Veolia’s best practice in people management and staff development as well as our contribution to the local economy.

The Kilkenny Business Awards, the flagship event for the Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the significant contribution of business in Kilkenny to the economy and the community in Kilkenny and the South East.

As a global leader in resource management, Veolia provides a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the Circular Economy and protect the environment. The centre for Veolia’s water business in Ireland is in Kilkenny, where we design, build and operate world-class water treatment facilities - providing a secure supply of drinking water to cities and towns in Ireland while protecting Ireland’s water quality by treating wastewater and managing sludge to the highest standards. We work with a range of blue chip industries to help them to manage their water resources in the most sustainable way.

Kilkenny has been the hub of our water business since the 1960s, starting as Mahon McPhillips, then becoming Bowen Water Technology, before rebranding as Veolia in 1994.

Since then, our employee numbers have risen from 37 to over 230 today. Being based in Kilkenny allows Veolia to provide high value, challenging roles in Kilkenny and the surrounding counties including Carlow, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford and Laois. These roles include all the main engineering and science disciplines, along with senior positions in Finance, HR and Health and Safety. In addition, our global reach allows Veolia to bring a wealth of international expertise to Kilkenny with 16 different nationalities working in our Kilkenny office.

Veolia’s engineering expertise helps our customers right across Ireland to reduce their impact on the environment and become more sustainable. As our customers move towards Net Zero Veolia’s teams support the transition to a more sustainable world in numerous ways.

Delivering clean drinking water to over 1 million people every day

Creating energy self-sufficient facilities for our customers

Reducing carbon emissions to help meet Net Zero targets

I am delighted that we have been shortlisted for the Employer of the Year award. Our people are at the heart of our success. Their skills and expertise allows Veolia to deliver innovative solutions to meet the challenges of climate change.
