Veolia is the global champion of ecological transformation, designing and deploying innovative, cost-effective environmental services for water, waste and energy management.
The Group is number 1 worldwide in water services and technologies, number 1 in hazardous waste treatment and number 1 in Europe for the circular economy. This position of strength is based on our vast technical expertise and our ability to co-develop cutting-edge solutions to meet our customers needs.
Our GreenUp strategic plan, launched almost a year ago, is aimed precisely at delivering the full potential for ecological transformation.
WHAT IS ECOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION?
Driving Ireland's Ecological Transformation
Ecological Transformation means reimagining how we interact with our environment. It's about creating systems that not only minimise harm but actively regenerate our natural world. At Veolia, we are revolutionising waste management by turning waste into valuable resources and energy. We're innovating water solutions to ensure clean, accessible water while minimising environmental impact. And we're transforming energy systems to accelerate the transition to renewable and efficient energy sources.
Our customers and our communities have set ambitious goals to reduce their carbon emissions and environmental footprint. Veolia is working to help them deliver on these commitments.
Accelerating Ecological Transformation: Green Up
Veolia launched its 2024 - 2027 Strategic Program Green Up, aiming to accelerate the deployment of affordable, replicable solutions that depollute, decarbonise and regenerate our resources while consolidating Veolia’s position as the leader of Ecological Transformation.
Veolia is creating a more sustainable future by accelerating the deployment of solutions that already exist and innovating to create those of tomorrow. To achieve these goals, Veolia plans to invest €2 billion globally in strategic areas such as decarbonising energy, advanced water treatment, and hazardous waste management.
Eliminate tons of CO2 emissions by 2027
Preservem³ of water by 2027
Treat tons of hazardous waste and pollutants by 2027
An additional €200 million will be invested in R&D for next-generation environmental technologies and leveraging digital technologies and AI to optimise resource use and operational efficiencies.
Preserving Biodiversity
A crucial part of ecological transformation is creating systems that actively regenerate our natural world. By focusing on biodiversity preservation, we're unlocking innovative solutions that ripple across various sectors and ecosystems.
Veolia Ireland's journey to Net Zero
Our journey to Net Zero
At Veolia Ireland, we're not just talking about net zero – we're actively paving the way to get there, starting with our ambitious commitment to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2032, aligning with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C warming trajectory.
Our path to net zero isn't a distant goal – it is an immediate priority driving our daily decisions and long-term strategies. We're revolutionising our processes, investing in cutting-edge technologies, and reimagining our energy use across all our facilities and operations in Ireland.
Key to our net zero journey is our focus on circular economy principles. We're maximising resource efficiency, minimising waste, and transforming what was once considered 'waste' into valuable energy and materials. This approach not only reduces our carbon footprint but also sets new industry standards for sustainable operations.
Managing the business through a multifaceted performance
Veolia is committed to a multifaceted performance with the same level of consideration and expectation as regards our economic, financial, commercial, social, societal and environmental performance. Our 18 indicators, as set out in this graphic, show how we track our progress as part of our Green Up strategy. We also report our progress against the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals.
